He spoke with the wisdom that can only come from experience, like a guy who went blind because he looked at a solar eclipse without one of those boxes with a pinhole in it and now goes around the country speaking at high schools about the dangers of looking at a solar eclipse without one of those boxes with a pinhole in it. -- Joseph Romm, Washington

From the attic came an unearthly howl. The whole scene had an eerie, surreal quality, like when you're on vacation in another city and "Jeopardy" comes on at 7 p.m. instead of 7:30. -- Roy Ashley, Washington

Her hair glistened in the rain like nose hair after a sneeze. -- Chuck Smith, Woodbridge
Her eyes were like two brown circles with big black dots in the center. -- Russell Beland, Springfield

weekend adventures

i just spent the weekend up in Effingham, IL. we got there sort of early ( at least for us ) on friday so Brad and I decided to up to blockbuster and rent a nintendo wii game. we got there and after a little debating we got what we wanted and proceded to checkout. normal this would be a really quick step but not for me. as the guy was getting the game, i looked and saw the price for renting a game...$8.00! granted this is for 5 days but i didn't want it for 5 days, just the weekend. so i was asking the guy if they had a way to rent a game for 1-2 days and he said no. so in talking and telling him this was the dumbest thing ever, he said i could sign up for a blockbuster online account and get a free rental. the signup was free and if i cancel within 2 weeks i don't owe anything. so i decided to go for it. after about 10 minutes of filling out this stupid online form TWICE i was finally able to go rent the game....yeah right. i got up there and he asked me for my card. that would have been fine except i don't have a card. i usually just say who i am, show a drivers license if they ask and i am on my way. well, since i had never rented at that store under my name i had to use somebody that had. brad didn't have a card either so that was out of the question. i would have called my in-laws to see if we could use there but neither of us could remember the phone number. brad didn't have his cell phone with him and ours was longdistance ( and i didn't have ours with me either ). so finally i found a phone number in my wallet ( not the right one i later learned ) and then they asked for a street address. needless to say we didn't know that either. at this point it was looking pretty bleak. after a few more minutes of guessing they guy just let us go ahead and rent the game. rock on! after that the rest of the weekend was relaxing. here is a song i heard in church...i really like the lyrics:

The more I seek You
The more I find You
The more I find You
The more I love You

I wanna sit at Your feet
Drink from the cup in Your hand
Lay back against You and breathe
Feel Your heartbeat

This love is so deep
it's more than I can stand
I melt in Your peace
It's overwhelming.

later i will try to post the lyrics to a country song i really like

I wish it was Thursday again

Grey's Anatomy is amazing. i have never watch a show that i wanted to quote so much. here is one of my favorite quotes from last night.

GEORGE: [to Callie] "Everytime I look at you... I feel better. It shocks me. It knocks my wind out, but it's true. I don't have to have sex with you, I'd be happy just look at you from across the room. Even that, anything, any piece of you. And, hopefully, all of you... that'd be the best thing. Because I love you... Marry me."

i didn't like Callie at first but she has really grown on me. the more i see her and George together, the more i feel like they are perfect for each other. i better get back to work but i will try to post more later.

a "wii" bit of excitement

well, i did get the nintendo wii monday. what a glorious thing it is. one of the coolest features is that you can turn it on and off from the controller! this weekend they are supposed to be adding an online news service so that should be pretty cool. other than that life has been kind of normal. i haven't made any progress on my manbooking yet due to lack of funds. well i better get back to work. i hope everyone is doing ok.

I'm getting better

Good news:
- i am starting to feel better. my throat is really sore but other than that i feel good.
- tonight is tv night!
- work is going good. i have been figuring a lot more stuff out so that is really good. sometimes i actually feel useful.

Bad news:
- taking medicine sucks. this morning i brushed my teeth and then realized i forgot to take my Tussin DM. well then i learned really quickly that i shouldn't chase Tussin DM with grape juice after brushing my teeth...NASTY!

PICK UP THE PHONE!

if you caller ID, please switch over and answer the freaking phone! if you don't want to talk to that person just say you have someone on the other line ( which you do ) and that you will call back later. i would leave a message but SINCE YOU ARE ON THE OTHER LINE THE ANSWERING MACHINE WON'T PICK UP!

i am glad i got that off my chest :)

sorry i haven't been posting as much lately. i either don't have much to say or i have said all that i want to at this time. i will try to do better :)

update on manbooking:
i haven't really started yet. i went by the scrapbooking store and did a quick glance at the papers and saw a couple that might work. so here is a question...when starting a page do you think of the design first or do you look at your pictures and design the page around that?

Top Secret!

so the other day at J. Edwards i had an idea come to me. i don't know if it was the 1 glass of wine or just my mind working some over time but i had this crazy idea. now before i tell you this idea you must swear that you won't laugh ( at least to my face ). ok here it is... i am going to scrapbook my video games! i am going to start with my World of Warcraft characters and how they evolve through out the game. then i might get some hardware that will let me take screen shots of the tv so i can record when i finish a game or do something really cool. i am actually really kind of excited about this project of mine. the only problem i think i am going to run into ( besides my guy friends laughing at me ) is finding "guy" paper. i really want an album that has swords and shields and dragons and that type of thing on it but i don't even know if they make those. i do plan on stopping after work to see what they have. maybe i could even get some pages put into magazines...lol...ok that might be going to far. well...i better get to work. i promise that i will keep you posted on this.

i have had a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day

today has been one of those days that i wish i could forget. i just feels like that everyone and their dog has had a computer problem today. the best part is that everyone thinks they deserve special treatment. also the little comments about stuff not working is really wearing thin. STUFF DOESN'T WORK WHEN YOU LOOSE YOUR MAIN SERVER!!!
